A Silvaze Christmas Part 6

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~With Tails~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Major Grimes was leading Tails through the long, metallic hallways of the base with a certain destination already picked in his mind. Both had now gone quiet and the only sound being made was the clinking of their footsteps against the smooth concrete floors.....Wow, this place is just as big as we thought it would be. And all of these paths to choose from make it seem like a maze.....Tails thought to himself. They took a left where they reached the end of the path and stood face to face with two huge doors. "What's in here?" asked Tails and stopped in his tracks, letting Major Grimes go ahead of him. "This," Major Grimes took out a card from his pocket and swiped it on a machine on a wall next to one of the doors. A little green light turned on and the doors slid open before them, "is where it all happens." Tails walked inside and looked on in awe, for he was seeing the most diverse and complex laboratory he had ever seen. Lights shone brightly from the tall ceiling all the way to the floor so Tails had a clear view of everything. There were all sorts of technical machines, creations, and projects scattered around the huge room. "I see you have a high interest for science." Major Grimes said. Tails didn't answer him, he only nodded faintly since he was still trying to take it all in. Each machine he gazed upon would be just as fascinating as the one next to it. The place was so big he could barely see the walls in the distance. But Tails drew his eyes away from it all when he noticed that not so far away, he could see almost all the scientists gathered around one particular machine.

"Hey, what's going on over there?" Tails finally asked coming out of his trance-like state. "That right there, is the best thing every created in all of engineering history." Major Grimes boasted. "Why? What does it do?" Tails wondered and turned to him. "You don't need to know that. But.....let's just say it's going to help change the world, permanently." Major Grimes faced him and Tails immediately felt uncomfortable since he could see that evil and greedy look on his face again. "Now then, why don't you begin telling me what you know about the chaos emeralds?" Tails shook off his fear of him and replied "O-Of course. Can I have a look at a computer with information about the emeralds? That way I can see what you already know about them so I won't spend anytime repeating anything. Or maybe I could correct something." Major Grimes looked at him and thought about it for a second. He was unsure of whether to let Tails have access to something that could possibly give him the hint of what his plans specifically were. Then he came to a decision "...I suppose so, but you can only click or open files that I say you can. Understand?" Tails nodded nervously and followed Major Grimes to the main computer.

*10 minutes later*

"Everything seems to be in order, and all the information is definitely correct." Tails said as he finished skimming through the file on the computer. "Good. What I want you to do now is tell me more about--" "Sir! Major Grimes sir! Your assistance is needed at the hangar at once!" he was interrupted by a pilot running over to him. Major Grimes rolled his eyes and said "Can't this wait? I'm very busy right now." "I'm afraid not sir. It's urgent!" the pilot said. Major Grimes sighed in annoyance then said, "Fine. I'll go there right now. How long will I be needed?" "Considering the situation, I say about half an hour." responded the pilot. "Half an hour!? That's ridiculous! Oh never mind, I'm wasting time. Tails, I want you to type down more information about the Chaos Emeralds into the computer below what's already there. And don't even bother trying anything sneaky, I'll have my scientists keep an eye on you and they'll be sure to tell me everything." Tails got a little freaked out by the scary tone of his voice "Yes s-sir." Then he stood still and watched Major Grimes walk away with the pilot until they left the lab and were no longer in sight.

Tails turned to face the computer but stared at it blankly. He thought......There's no way I'm doing what he says! The only reason I agreed to help him in the first place was to gain his trust and be freed from the cell. Now that I'm out, I have to finish what I started and find some way to free the guys, Cream, and Maria. Then we'd have to go and rescue Blaze, Amy, and Rouge. I hope they're all alright. Hmmm, I need a plan though....... He crossed his arms and tried thinking of an escape plan of his own. As he did that, all the scientists stopped what they were doing and approached him. When they came close enough, Tails noticed their movement and snapped out of his thoughts to escape and instead began worrying about what they could do to him......Oh no, what do they want? I hope they don't tell Major Grimes anything about-- Wait, why am I so scared? I've handled worse than these guys before, I can take them if they try anything!...... "What do you want??" Tails asked them fiercely. "You're name is Tails, is that correct?" asked one of the scientists. "Yes. How do you know that??" Tails questioned them. "We were in charge of putting you and your friends' records into the computers. We know all of your friends' names and powers." answered another scientist.

"What are you planning on doing to us!?" Tails demanded. His fists were clenched and his namesakes were prepared to fly him high into the air in case they tried to capture him. "No need to worry Tails! We're not going to hurt you! We actually want to help you and your friends escape." said a female scientist. "Help us? You want to help us?? Why??" Tails asked thrown off guard. "As the scientists around here, we obviously know most of Major Grimes's plan. And what he's planning to do...... it's just terrible. Rather insane actually. We have to stop him, it's the best thing for everyone. And you and your friends are the only ones that can stop him. We'll help you escape but please, you have to help us!" she pleaded and everyone else did too. Tails thought.....Should I trust them? Then could go against me at any moment. Still, their knowledge of this place could really be helpful. Besides, if they do turn against me I can take on them...... he looked at all of them and said "Okay, I'll accept your help and I'll get my friends to help you." Everyone went happy and the female scientist went up to him and shook his hand gratefully. "Thank you Tails! We promise we'll do out best to help!" she cheered and Tails grinned "Not a problem. By the way, what's your name?" She gave him a friendly look and said "Oh my name is Mae, I'm the head scientist here." "Head scientist? That's pretty neat." Tails said. "Thank you." Mae smiled at him. "Oh wait, I just have one question. Why do you need our help to defeat Major Grimes? There's so many of you and only one of him, couldn't you overpower him?" Tails asked them all curiously.

Mae looked down and sighed before saying "Believe me, we've wanted to do that for so long. But there's a rumor that Major Grimes has a strange machine hidden somewhere in the base that only he can activate. If that machine is turned on, all the exits would immediately seal so we wouldn't be able to escape. And  to make it worse, that same machine deactivates all of our weapons except for his, leaving us defenseless." Tails gasped," Woaah......That's...That's awful! You're right, you can't take any chances with that, it's too risky. My friends and I will help you guys out for sure. First, we have to free my friends who are still trapped in their cells and have cuffs on them." Mae smiled at him," Your friends are cuffed are they? Well then we have that covered. We're the ones who made those cuffs so naturally we also have they keys to unlock them. Same thing with the cells, but unfortunately only the soldiers have the keys to those, so we'd have to take it from them." Tails grinned a little "Man, that's a major drawback, but at least you have the keys to the cuffs. Now come on, let's think of something quick before Major Grimes comes back."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~With Amy, Blaze, and Rouge~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"That's perfect! There's no way that plan can fail us." Amy said both relieved and excited at the same time. "Don't get too happy, we're not out yet." Blaze told her then looked to Soldier 1, "Let me see if I have it straight. First, you'd lead us and sneak us into the lab. Then you and your men would distract the scientists while me, Amy, and Rouge got the keys to the cuffs and snuck back out to find where everyone else is being kept and free them. From there, we'd all go find Major Grimes and make sure he pays for what he's done." "You got it." confirmed the soldier, " Also, a few men will stay here and keep an eye on the security cameras. I'm giving you three girls comunication devices so they could warn you about anything. Once you find him and begin fighting him, us soldiers will be standing nearby to subdue him and anyone on his side once you've defeated him. And just to let you know, we really appreciate what you're going to for us. Like we already told you, we would have already reported Major Grimes or taken him down ourselves but there's that possibility that the rumor is true..." The girls nodded in agreement and understanding. Then Blaze asked, "Do you really think that the scientists are on Major Grimes's side?" Another soldier answered her, "We're not so sure to be honest, we've never really talked to any of them. In fact, we're not sure if us soldiers are the only ones against him. If they aren't then that would be great, but we have to be prepared as if they were on his side."

"But before we do anything, we're going to quickly check the security cameras to see if we can find where Major Grimes currently is. You girls wait here, we'll be over there." The group of soldiers walked over to the monitors and computers, leaving the three girls to themselves. After what's been hours, this is the first time they had any time to talk within themselves only. They went and sat down in seats across from each other, then they faced each other and realized how weary they looked from everything they've been through so far. Their clothes looked a little dirty from being on the floor, their fur was messy from the struggle earlier, and they felt stressed out. "I wonder how everyone else is doing, I'm really worried about them." Rouge said with a desperate tone in her voice. "I know, and I'm really worried about Sonic. I don't know how long he can handle being in that dark, closed space. Especially when he's used to being out and running." Amy added sadly. All stayed quiet for a second, then Amy suddenly had a change in mood from sad to really mad. "I can't believe this.....Why today? Why today of all days??? It's christmas for crying out loud, we're supposed to be back home having fun at our party! Not trapped in a secret military base by some lunatic who thinks he can take over the world! Ugh!! It's just not fair!!" Rouge and Blaze sat straight up and gave her surprised looks. Even though both were used to Amy's feisty behavior, they were startled by her sudden outburst and tried calming her down.

"Woah there! No need to get all fired up like that. I know what's happening to us is terrible, but everything will work out for us." Rouge tried reasoning with Amy. "Rouge is right. We can make up for the party any other day, maybe even tomorrow. The important thing now is defeating Major Grimes and getting out of here." Blaze pointed out. Amy looked at them both and gave a shaky sigh before saying, "You're right, sorry.... it's just.... I really love Christmas and I was hoping we could all spend this day together happily. And, to be honest with you, I thought I could use today to try and spend more time with Sonic. He's always busy saving the world and today was one of those only days where I'd get the chance to get closer to him. But now it's ruined...... and that just makes me so mad!" Amy slowly settled down into her seat and sadly began twirling a strand of her hair. Meanwhile, Blaze and Rouge gave Amy sympathetic looks. The both knew how much she cared for Sonic and how strong her feelings were towards him. Then Amy spoke up again, but much calmer this time, "....You know, I was also looking forward to this Christmas party because it would help you get closer to Shadow and Silver." Blaze and Rouge froze, looked at Amy, each other, and then back at Amy. "Closer to them? What do you mean?" Rouge tilted her head slightly as she asked the question. A sly grin grew onto Amy's face and she said, "Oh come on, stop playing around. You both know that your relationship with Silver and Shadow goes far beyond being just friends. Admit it, they like you and you like them."

Blushes made their way onto Blaze and Rouge's muzzles, much to Amy's delight. She jumped up and yelled out, "I knew it, you like them and they like you!" But before Amy could throw a whole celebration, Blaze stood up and cut her off, "No no no Amy, you got it all wrong! Silver and I are just friends, like we've always been. Nothing more, nothing less and that's the truth." "Same with me and Shadow! We're only friends and partners when it comes to our missions. Besides, why would they be interested in us?" Rouge tried backing Blaze up, but Amy wouldn't have any of it. "Don't be so modest, they have a million reasons to like you! You're smart, tough, beautiful, and most of all, you're both fighters. Face it, you're exactly their types!" Blaze shook her head and put her hands on her waist, "How would you know that's what they're looking for?" Amy smirked and answered her with, "Trust me, I know these things. Besides, it's pretty obvious. What else could they want?" The two girls went quiet. They couldn't agree with what Amy was saying, but they certainly couldn't deny it either. Amy took this silence as a win for herself and smiled victoriously as she sat back down in her seat. Blaze gave a little huff and also sat down next to Rouge. Once Amy seemed to be distracted, Rouge whispered to Blaze, "Can you believe what Amy was saying? Us getting with the guys...... it's ridiculous right?" Blaze scoffed and whispered back, "I know, I couldn't imagine that happening..." Rouge gave her a seemingly hesitated grin and nod, then turned away from her as if to think.

Blaze did the same and faced another direction but didn't pay attention to anything in particular. She put her elbow to the arm-rest and her face to her hand, then she entered her thoughts........I couldn't imagine getting together with Silver, it doesn't seem likely. After all, we've been friends for as long as I could remember. But, if it did happen....it might be kind of nice........ she blushed as she thought this, but she made sure no one saw.
